I am so excited to be fundraising for ALS during the Walk to Defeat ALS for 2017. This is my first walk and my first time as a team captain. As most of you know, my beloved husband George was diagnosed with ALS two years ago. The impact of this on our lives has been dramatic. We are blessed in so many ways and grateful for all the support we receive, but there are many, many people who do not have the support that we do. There is no cure as of now for ALS, but there is so much promising research. I hope that you will join me in supporting the ALS Association Orange County Chapter with a donation that will aid in research and support for those who are struggling with this extremely challanging diagnosis. I welcome those of you who are able to join me as a team member and help to raise additional funds, and if you are able, to come and walk with me on November 4th. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
