On November 10, 2018, Dave and I are participating in the Irvine Walk to Defeat ALS. We want to raise $5,000 this year and we have about 1 month to do this. I’m trying to do everything I can to make my impact on this disease and the people that I know who are dealing with it right now.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with ALS in December 2015 and passed away August 2017. Our lives dramatically changed because his decline was rapid and changed weekly. We are so thankful for all those who prayed and visited and helped my family during that time. This disease is truly a race against time because you have to maintain health, wait for insurance and medical appointments, prepare for the next month's needs and so on.
I know you all are busy with many things to do, but if you have time to walk and/or donate to help us find a cure and help ALS patients, it would be greatly appreciated!! The ALS Organization, specifically the OC Chapter, has been instrumental for 170+ families, including mine -- support, equipment, resources, ideas, and always being available when I call.
Please consider joining us at the Walk to Defeat ALS in Orange County or donating to this great cause. If you want to donate, it will go to the cost for patient services and research. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease. For every dollar that is raised, they really do put back more into research and patient services than many other organizations out there.
Thank you for reading! Together, we can create a world without ALS.

What is ALS? Why We Need Your Help??
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
