Thank you to everyone who has participated and supported us for the past 4 years! This will be our fifth year walking and we walk in loving memory of our beautiful mother who battled ALS for 2 years. We walk so no one else has to suffer the pain of losing a loved one to ALS. We walk for those who can no longer walk. We walk for our courageous heroes and families impacted by ALS. We walk to transform the pain of losing our mom into hope by supporting efforts in providing critical services to those living with the devastating disease and by helping to raise funds for continued research to finding a cure.
Our mom was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her generous spirit, pure heart, and unwavering patience and faith will always be remembered.
Please consider joining us in the walk and/or making a contribution.
“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that you cannot sincerely try to help another without helping yourself.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
